This workshop meets Saturday, August 28, 2027, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm each day with a lunch break
This workshop is great for those who wish to combine metal clay with some simple metalsmithing techniques. Make these elegant, two-sided, hollow-form earrings with a bottom opening for beaded wire dangles. Learn how to make and use polymer clay armatures to shape the metal clay as it dries, how to ball up the ends of wire with a torch, how to make your own ear wires, how to incorporate fine silver wire jump rings into metal clay before firing, and how to rivet a silver tube in place after firing in order to suspend dangling elements from inside the piece.
Students will need to bring 20g fast-firing fine silver metal clay. All other tools and materials will be provided.
A kit fee of $15 for silver wire and beads will be collected by the instructor during the workshop.
This workshop is part of the Metal Clay Artists Symposium and requires the purchase of the General Registration.
