This workshop meets Friday and Saturday, August 27 & 28, 2027, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm each day with a lunch break
Join Sylvie from Halstead Jewelry Supplies for this fun and creative workshop that expands your metalsmithing skills. You most likely already know a lot about metal clay, but what about soldering, forming, sawing, and other metalsmithing skills? In this workshop we’ll create multiple metal clay elements that we can use to design a collection around. Metal clay lends itself really well as an alternative to casting. We’ll spend some time designing a cohesive collection around our clay elements, and then get making! With time dedicated to working on our smithing skills, you’ll leave class having a better handle on soldering, sawing, and more, as well as how your clay elements can create a cohesive collection that is sellable and wearable. Metal clay experience is preferred. Soldering experience is not necessary.
There will be a kit fee of $100 collected by the instructor at the start of class. Students are required to bring some basic metalsmithing tools. See supply list.
This workshop is part of the Metal Clay Artists Symposium and requires the purchase of the General Registration.
